Mobile-First Landing Page Design That Converts

Maya Chen · 2024-11-18

Mobile-first isn't a buzzword — it's a math problem. With 67% of web traffic on mobile, designing for desktop first means your majority experience is an afterthought.

Mobile constraints force clarity. You have ~320px of width and one thumb's reach. This means: one column layout, large tap targets (minimum 48px), and concise copy.

The thumb zone is real. The most comfortable tapping area is the bottom-center of the screen. Place your primary CTA there. Avoid putting critical actions in the top corners.

Mobile forms must be minimal. Use auto-fill, smart defaults, and progressive disclosure. If you need 7 fields, collect 3 now and 4 later.

Test on real devices, not just browser simulators. Performance, touch behavior, and rendering all differ on actual phones.
