CTA Button Optimization: The Complete A/B Testing Guide
Your CTA button is the single most important element on your landing page. Every other element exists to get visitors to click it.
Button copy should be first-person and benefit-driven. 'Start My Free Trial' outperforms 'Start Your Free Trial' by 24%. Action words like 'Get', 'Start', 'Claim' outperform passive words like 'Learn', 'See', 'View'.
Button color matters less than contrast. A red button on a white page and a green button on a white page perform similarly — what matters is that the button stands out from everything else.
Size affects perception of importance. Larger buttons signal 'this is what you should do.' But too large feels aggressive. The sweet spot is 1.5-2x the height of surrounding text.
Adding micro-copy below the CTA reduces friction. 'No credit card required' or 'Setup in 60 seconds' addresses objections at the moment of decision.
